"Cat Efficiency" P0420 w/ "Evap Leakage" P1457
Getting the following CEL codes on my 2002 Accord V6:
P0420 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD B1
P1457 EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM LEAKAGE (EVAP CANISTER AREA)
The P0420 code first appeared about 4 yrs/60k miles ago, but the CEL would intermittently go off allowing it to pass emissions.
Now as of about 6 mo/7k miles ago, the light has been solid. Recently got the codes pulled again and P1457 showed up as well.
There's been no noticeable decrease in engine performance or fuel efficiency.
The Cat was replaced w/ aftermarket about 7 yrs/100k miles ago (approx 40k miles before the P0420 code first appeared)
Previously had the P1457 code about 6yrs/90k miles ago (replaced canister purge solenoid & valve).

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’ve seen where the Cat Efficiency code can also be linked to Intake Air Leaks, Faulty O2 Sensor, Faulty/leaking fuel injector, and even Improper Ignition Timing or Faulty ECM. Is the likelihood of it being the Cat enough to overlook the other possible causes? Do you know the rough cost of repairing the above items?
One other thing I forgot to mention is that every now and again, say a handful of times in a year, the car will turn over but the engine will not start. After letting it sit for several minutes, it’s always started back up. And it has not progressively gotten worse.
