EGR & o2 sensor have been reading "not ready" for over a year on my 2002 Accord SE. In Sept 2011 I had the battery changed. In Nov 2011 I brought my car for inspection at Honda and they said I needed put more miles on my car. I brought it back the following week and still not ready. At the end of the month I was able to get a 10 day extension. I brought it back to Honda and had the EGR replaced for $480. I drove it around for another week and still not ready. Honda said it could be that I need a new computer and that's why those codes are still not ready. I did a little research and NYS DMV grants 1 yr waiver if work has been done (over $450) and it still not passing inspection. The service rep said he never heard of this and would speak with his manager and get back to me on this. When he called me, he stated that I would have to get it inspected at another shop because since they did the work they can't grant the waiver (false info). After numerous tickets and even a tow on Xmas eve, I went back to Honda and spoke to a manager. I was granted the 1 yr waiver. I recently bought a used computer and had my friends mechanic install it. I drove it about 150 miles and the EGR & o2 are still not ready. I don't know what to do at this point. I really can't afford much more work at this point. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks..
