Default Maybe a future Accord owner here

I'm new to this forum, and, maybe a new Honda owner. Never cared much about import cars. But about 8 months ago I bought a 1992 Plymouth Laser GS ( Plymoth's version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse) and have had a ball with it every since! But I want something with more room & more power, so I am looking at an old 1988 Accord that needs to be rebuilt from the pavement up. I can probably get it for a song & a dance, but wanted to get the inside scoop on it before I commited to it. Are parts still avalable? Was there good years & bad years for the accords, or were they all fairly decent cars? Can the OLD Accords be modded fairly reasonably? Like I said, I will have to do a complete teardown & rebuild of everything for the car to be right. It has 300,000 + miles on it and the owner (2nd owner, and the 1st owner is my 2nd cousin) just parked it one day about 4 years ago and said " Ok, thats long enough" And Bought a 2000 Accord to replace it! It was still running, but smoking and missing a little, when he parked it. I know it is old, but I like the old cars. There is just something about them that draws me to them. Default RE: Maybe a future Accord owner here

Accord's best year(s), to me, were the 1990-93 models (CB7). I've had two within my possesion (one actually being mine, the other my father's) during my life time. My father's '93 Accord Ex had about 314k miles before he wrecked (by accident) it and it ran fantabulously! I miss it, and mine has just rolled 317k miles and it runs like a champ, even though it has been dogged on by it's last few owners. But if you're looking for a good year for the accord try the '92 or the '93. I'm currently doing some modifying to mine to get some more life out of it. Anyways, if you're interested in a good year(s) for the Accord go with either a '92 or '93 and get the EX model.

Good luck!!!
