Hi I have a 1996 accord coupe ex, it has the 2.2 with the vtec. Recently its been randomly bogging down at low and half throttle, if I give it the beans it sprints fine though. I suspect upstream o2 sensor as my cousin had similar symptoms on his tacoma and it was the o2. Ive replaced spark plugs, air filter, run some injector cleaner and thats about it. It does not have rear o2 sensor as previous owner removed the cat in favor of aftermarket exhaust. I decided to get a data stream to see if I could look at a few things when it started to bog down. Right around the time it was bogging and not wanting to run I held the throttle there to keep it going long enough for sufficient data. After a minute it stopped bogging but still felt slightly less powerful. I noticed when it was bogging the o2 sensor hit 1.275v and stayed there. Fuel trim was -27 and when it stopped bogging fuel trim stayed at steady 5 and o2 sensor was still stuck, after another minute the o2 sensor started fluctuating again and it ran fine. So what do you guys think? I'm broke as hell but I did order a denso upstream sensor since it was only $30 and was wondering if it could be anything else i havent thought of.

welcome to the forum. if you ordered an aftermarket sensor and not a Honda original, it may work for a short time then go dead. Honda cars do not like aftermarket sensors or transmission fluids.

 

Ah I havent put the sensor in yet as it hasnt arrived but im trying to make sure im on the right track. Also ive heard denso was oem for honda?

 

yes you are correct that denso is oem for Honda, but honda's denso sensor is not quite the same. same as the honda transmission fluid is not quite the same as aftermarket fluids that say approved for use in all vehicles. if you wish to use the aftermarket denso senssor it is your say so. i do not recommend doing so. sorry
