I had a heater hose bust on my 91 accord and the next day my speedometer was acting crazy and my green sport light and check engine light came on. So I changed out the VSS and now my speedo works for about 1 mile first thing in the morning and then same thing.

When I pulled out the old VSS it had black grease on the pin so I greased the new pin. Could that cause my problem.

 

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I have the same problem but I didnt put any grease in the connector. It was dirty when i took the old one out but other than that, no dirt at all. I also had the hose right above the sensor bust the other day. My speedo had been acting weird before I left on deployment in August 07 so I dont know if the busted hose made any difference.
