Default transmission cooler

was told by a retired Honda mechanic that I should replace the stock trans cooler( I don't even see a cooler ) with a bigger better unit... has anyone done this ? if so what would be the size needed ? is it a pretty clean cut install ? I've know for years that heat isn't a good thing for a transmission..i just thought the stock cooler would have been good but from what he tells me , not so... by the way 99 accord 2.3

your current trans cooler goes thru the bottom of your radiator, so it is at least water temp hot. you can get small size depending on what you intend to haul. but i have a 12' X 12" trans cooler on my 87 motorhome 454 with a 400 trans. and it is good to haul up to 5k lbs all day. you don't need one this large. and you can mount it up front of the a/c condensor and use proper rubber hose for inlet and out let hooked up to your existing metal lines. try to place a screen in front of the cooler to prevent rocks from hitting it,.
