waterpump/timing belt change?
Bought the 2005 accord thinking the people did the water pump and timing belt at the !00k but they did not. They only got quoted for it at $1200. Do you really need to get it done at the 100k mark? I have 118k miles on my car now. I found a few kits but also heres the next question....there are tons of brand name kits for the car...do any of you know about
Gmb(waterpump), PCI(Timing),
CNS
or Eristic?
I got a buddy that's been a mechanic for about 20 years and said he could do it for 200 if I bought the kit.

if you're at 118k you are on borrowed time. If you feel that pistons and valves are cheaper to change than a timing belt, then don't change the belt and water pump. When I have mine done on my civic, I buy all honda genuine parts, water pump, belt, cam seal, crank seal, and what ever needs changing so you don't have to worry for another 100k+ miles. With 280k, no problems to date.

well as far as genuine parts go honda is not in the water pump and Serpentine belt business they buy there parts from outside companies slap a honda logo on the box and jack the price up. i know all honda belts and in the usa are made by Gates corporation.these can be found at Napa thats what i use along with there valve cover gaskit and bosch water pump. my napa belt, water pump, gaskits and timing belt tensioner all have 70,000 miles on them and running strong. as for buying a kit online i wouldn't buy any no name parts especially a timing belt either go honda or Napa.
