Default 2018 Honda Civic Oil Capacity 2.0 L

hello,

I recently purchased a 2018 Civic 2.0 L and used this link/look up guide for the oil capacity and to change the oil to synthetic
https://www.searchforparts.com/oil-c...0l-k20c1-turbo

and it says 5.7 quarts with filter and 5.3 without. Does it really matter which? I even had a friend confuse me and said you should put a bit less oil than required (which baffled me).

any opinions, not just for a civic but for any vehicle, anyone hear of putting less oil than normal? I was stunned.

for all the vehicles i have changed oil and filter on,( 500+) i refill to the top line on the dip stick, idle the engine to assure no oil leaks, recheck the dip stick and fill to the top line. run the engine again to recheck and leave it at the top line.

When checking the oil after the engine was running, wait a minute or two before checking oil level.
You do not want to over fill. Waiting lets the oil drain down and you will get the proper reading.
