Default b20 vtec conversion kit question

Hey guys so I did a b20b block to a b16 head using the blackworks conversion kit and its leaking oil from the sandwich plate. It burns on the motor and smokes like crazy and is embarrassing as ****. So I was searching Google and there was a picture of a setup that did not even use the sandwich plate and instead put the oil line to the bolt right by the oil filter...where like an oil catch can would be installed. I believe its on the timing belt side of the oil filter. Can I do this with my setup and just get rid of the sandwich plate?

ok i am guessing you have a sandwich plate in between your oil filter and engine block so you can have an oil pressure guage hooked up. am i right? this question doesnt seem specific enough... thanks
