Civic Top Speed
I own a 2003 Honda Civic with a aem v2 intake. But even before I but the intake on I was topping out at 100mph. I am trying to figure out why is there some type of restriction that could of been put on by the preveous owner. My old car a 1999 honda civic dx hatchback toped out at 110. But this is a more powerful engine so whats the problem.

RE: Civic Top Speed
welcome to the forum backdragoncivic; enjoy your stay. I have a 02 civic 1.7 5 spd, I have gotten this civic up to 120 level fwy, with more to go. stock. do you know if the transmission was modified to get down the 1/4 mile quicker. Is there any other mod's besides the intake.Intake should improve the breathing of the engine to perform better.

No I dont think that someone would modify an automatic trans. Or even if they could. But thaats were it tops out before and after the intake was installed. I use synthedic oil and I have 73k on the odomiter. I am confused of why it just stays there like i am crusing. What can I do.

thats weird because my brother has a 2003 honda civic ex. it has a lot of mods now but when it was stock (its not an automatic) we got it to top out at around 130. it might have something to do with the fact that it is an automatic and it might have a rev limit set on it in the final gear seeing as how all the shifting is done electronically. its mainly to make sure people dont speed. when u have it al full throttle what rpms is it shifting at and in final gear whats rpms does it top out at? if its that that an easy fix on a dyno.
