Default Clicking/Popping Sound When I Turn Left or Right?

Just noticed this today but I'm hearing a light, one off click/pop sound when I turn my steering wheel a certain amount in either direction. Like if I'm turning to pull into a parking space, I'll hear the one off click/pop once I turn the wheel to a certain degree. It doesn't seem to matter if it's left or right, it happens on both. It sounds like it's coming from right behind and under my or the passenger's seat when it happens, as well, but can't be sure.

It's a bit disconcerting considering I'm on vacation and 200 miles from my mechanic. I'm set to go back tomorrow, but does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

It's a 2005 Honda Civic EX, 165,000 miles.

cv on your drive shafts. getting worn, see if the rubber boots are leaking greese out. get them checked (changed) when you get back.

Thanks for the reply, ACmech. Wanted to check back in with an update since I thought about it for a second. Basically there was nothing wrong in my situation. Must have been a temporary issue brought on by the rain as it seemed to have disappeared by the evening once it had a chance to dry out. No idea why it happened as I haven't heard it in the rain since then but whatever it was is sorted.

Steering rack and pinion could also be the issue. Especially if it's the same spot every time. Or your tie rod(s) are going out

Good luck
