My Civic automatic's gearbox is b......d and I can't find another one in South Africa. Is it practical/feasible to convert the car to manual or do I just need to scrap it? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated - am now desperate!

 

welcome to the forum. if you have a salvage yard get a good used trans and replace it, also if you have access to ebay or google you may be able to find a good used trans and ship it to you. converting to manual is not an easy job. also make sure you never use an after market trans fluid for the automatic, honda only fluid. a rebuilt trans would be almost the value of your 01 civic.

 

Many thanks for your reply. Problem is no one seems to have a replacement gearbox. Without the gearbox I am looking at scrapping a perfectly good, low mileage car.
