Ok i finally understand what the markings on aftermarket camgears mean. Now how do the camshafts line up with the camgears? are there markings on the camshafts that line up with the camgears? any info is appreciated much!

 

cam gear has key way, cam shaft has key way slot, alighn, install keyway, install bolt to hold cam on to cam shaft.

 

thank you so much for the info. i've been trying to find all the info i need to learn timing and replace the camshafts and it's taken a while. if i replace the camshafts would i need to replace the valves? i know i need to upgrade the springs and retainers though. plus on http://www.skunk2.com/installation/305-05-5145.pdf it show's what measurements need to be taken after the camshafts are in place. how do i measure the valve lash, and what do the other measurements mean under other recommended camshaft specifications?
