Default Rattling Sound When Coming to a Stop (After Having My Cylinder Head Gasket Replaced)

Hey all. I had my cylinder head gasket replaced on my 05 Honda Civic EX at a Honda specific service center after my car began randomly overheating on the road to where eventually adding coolant wasn't even fixing anything.

The overheating has stopped so far, but I noticed a week after they did the work that there is a rattling sound what sounds like directly underneath my driver seat occasionally when I come to a stop at a traffic light or when I come to park.

It only occurs when I am just coming to a stop, so right before my car has come to a complete stop and after I stop the rattling noise tapers off after a second. It doesn't happen every time, either; maybe one in three or four stops so maybe 30 percent of the time.

I know they had to tear apart the engine to replace the cylinder head gasket, so I'm wondering with that knowledge in mind what it is that might be rattling as I didn't hear it before they went to work on my car.

Any ideas on this? Thanks for the help.

Most likely they left a muffler hanger loose, get under the car and grab the exhaust pipes and shake trying to duplicate the noise. If it is the exhaust tighten all connections.

Thanks for the input. I was trying to replicate it but no luck so I have an appointment to get it looked at by the same people so hopefully they'll get it sorted fast.

Hope they find it,nothing more bothersome than a rattle.

Just thought I'd update this before I forgot about it. I took it in and it turned out to just be the heat shield on the catalytic converter was loose so they just had to bind it up a bit and the rattling is pretty much gone now, free of charge.

I wish the same minimal issue on anyone else reading this. Thanks again for the help!
