I owned a 1990 civic ef. When ever I try to start my car there is no crank for about 3-5 times but then the car turns on. This is my daily car and this issue has happened for about a month. Although it this occurs for most of the time, it has always turned on. Any ideas of what it could be causing this?

 

Ignition switch, relay?

 

First thing to do is to clean the battery posts and cable terminals
Inspect the terminal crimps. Sometimes corrosion get under the insulation
Follow negative cable to chassis ground. Clean contact points.
Then check the engine ground strap clean as necessary.
This will eliminate corrosion and make testing easier.
