Default paint failing on '91 CRV

The photo just shows left bumper; the roof looks pretty bad. My kid had a detailer go after it & he said he could do nothing. I've tried buffing it out. Anybody had success w/ mitigating this creeping wear? I can't afford a full paint job & at least would like to stop its advance. Sorry about the size! Fail at making attachments smaller...

The clear coat is degraded due to UV light. All the horizontal panels (roof, hood, etc) get it bad. You would need to sand it out and clear it again.

Thank you! You happen to know of any links teaching how to do that without ruining the paint?

If you have never done that kind of repair you will not like what you are getting into and will likely not like the outcome. It's 30 years old I suggest driving as is and save your money.
The repair is more than the car is worth.

Shoot- I hear this. I took on a hood once, complete w/ cobbled-together outdoor tent, did everything right, ended up buying a used one that matched. Frustrating. Was hoping small, isolated areas would be doable! I'm really attached to this car & it needs to hang in for more years; body is good, new/refurbished tranny, tie rods, ball joints, etc., even the liftgate lock which had Always required slamming & now doesn't!

If you just want transportation and not worried about looking like a rock star, just drive it.

So it's too unpleasant, right? Give it a try. See if you can?
