Default 2004 Honda Accord Steering Wheel not unlocking

Okay so I have a 2004 Honda Accord Ex. It has been sitting for 2 years and finally got around to fixing it. It needed some suspension work in the front and I just didn’t have the time.

Now that all that is done, it’s driving like a champ except that I started to notice that the key was not going into the ignition easily. Had to play with it burn once it went in, the key would turn and start the car.

I was out at the mall and I went to start the car and had the same problem of the key not going into the ignition. While I was playing with it I pulled the steering wheel and it locked. Now I can’t get the dang steering wheel to unlock. Yes, I know how to do it (turn to the opposite side and then turn the key). This won’t work… like no matter how I do it. I am not sure if the key cylinder for the ignition is bad and that’s why I can’t get the steering wheel to unlock….

Any insight or help would be amazing.

Click in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page to get the entire manual.

Thank you. That is a great Manual.

I was able to start the car once and unlock the steering wheel. Turned it off and tried to start it again and the key won’t turn. I think I can safely say the key/lock cylinder is shot…

I think I’m getting this one. It says I need to reuse the security immobilizer module but since that should still be good, I am going with this one.

Before I buy this, any reason why I shouldn’t go with non Honda part?
