Default 89 Prelude stalls under braking

When braking my 89 Prelude stalls out otherwise it runs great. I just came back from a 4 hour HWY trip that ran the car pretty hard, then my first stop in town the car stalled at every stop. I replaced the fuel filter, the spark plugs and installed a K&N filter and still no difference. I am suspecting the valves need adjustment. ??????

valves should be good after a long run. check to see if you have a vaccum leak in your brake line or any line. If you have power assist, most times it is vaccum. If you pull vaccum from the intake too much ( leak ) it will stall the engine, no air in the manifold.

Default stalls under braking

I have now replaced the air filter, fuel filter, main relay, fuel pump, PCV valve, booster check valve, spark plugs, spark plug wires and still it persists to stall. BUT!!! when I fill the car with gas it shows no signs of stalling, it only stalls under braking at and below 1/2 a tank. so I am thinking that the pick up assembly is sucking air at or near 1/2 way down.
The problem must lie with the small hose on the top of the pump, or possibly a damaged pick-up.??

what you suggest is possible, but also check for vaccum leaks

i h ave an 88 honda prelude si and mine does the same thing. to be honest with you try changing the gas cap to a cap that seals it up air tight. sounds crazy but thats what i did and immediately it stopped stalling, well until i actually ran out of gas) those old metal caps just leak all the air out.
