I have a 91 Honda I bought about three months ago once I fixed it up a little and was about to drive it the car kept deceleration and the speedometer didn't work but shifted just fine. Then a few weeks later the tranny stopped shifting automatic so now Manuelly shift it. I thought the tranny was gone but I'm trying to at least try everything before I buy a new one. I replaced the vss and that fixed the speedometer and decelerating I also changed the solenoid yet when I put the car in drive it takes in like second or third gear. My s light on the dash hasn't stop blinking since I got the car please help me!!! Do I need to replace the TCU or is it anything else I need to change before I buy another tranny?

Yes, but when I was changing out the solenoid last week the fluid did look black. Any suggestions?

 

what type of transmission fluid did you use.. If you used anything else other than the honda transmission fluid only, ( From Honda Dealer) the problem may have started from there. If this is the case, please change the fluid again back to honda only fluid, this may help the trans problem (hope)..

 

Okay thanks I'll try it. I'm also changing the TCU hopefully that works too
