Help! My wife and I have 2 Hondas (2012 Civic and 2016 Accord) and have been advised to have the brake fluid replaced. My wife called to make an appointment to do that but one shop has told her it's not necessary. Can you help? I tend to believe the 1st sources we talked to butmy wife is concerned.

 

welcome to the forum. the accord service maintenance does not show changing of the brake fluid. only check. if you see your fluid to be dark in color then it may be ready to change. i have 292k miles on my 07 Fit, fluid still appears clear, so honda has not advised me to change my fluid to date. my transmission has be done each 30k miles. my 90 accord drove to 230k miles and gave away the car, honda did not advise us to change brake fluid.
if you have a very high service minded service department, they will advise you to change all the fluids, brake pads, oil change at each scheduled time possible to make money. also depends on how you drive your car. if you drive like a high performance racer, then fluid change is a good idea, because you will be burning up the fluid with high heat on the pads.
