Exclamation 2004 Honda EDIX - HELP

Trying to help a Bahamian friend who has a 2004 Honda EDIX with a 1.7 liter VTEC engine.
The VIN won't cross with US (not 17 characters) Produced in Japan ....
Googled and can't find a thing ... other than Civic pops up from time to time BUT even
the Civic has several 1.7 liter engine options????
Attached is the Japanese VIN Plate ...
What I am trying to do is cross check to an US Honda engine OR at least
find out what Spark Plug works as well as Oil Filter among other things
The research I have done, I believe ?? the engine is a D17A????
Any help would be most appreciated ... Thanks in advance ... LE

Does the engine have spark plugs in it? If it does then would try taking one out and going to the auto parts store to find a match. As for oil filter, measure the size and go to see if they have one similar. Then take the old one out during an oil drain to see if the hole size and threads match. If they do not then return the oil filter (clean). Also, could try talking to the guys in the auto parts store? If you are trying to help someone where you are not at the car then 1000 times more difficult.
