Default Engine Block Crack or Casting Marks

Hi everyone sorry if this is in the wrong thread I am new to the forum. I just had a question about this b20b block that I was trying to buy off of some guy. He didn't know they were there and me and my uncle were the ones who found it while inspecting it. This is near the rear motor bracket. The car that it was pulled from was totalled from running head on into a telephone pole. He claims it to be just casting marks but I really think they're cracks. Second opinions? Thanks in advance.

welcome to the forum. unable to know from not running the engine or doing a zyglo check on a bench. if in doubt, pass on it. Any vehicle in a head on if you cannot see how far into the engine compt it has gone difficult to determine condition.

Yeah, when in doubt, pass on it. If you see it again on the next few engines then could be casting
Until then, save your money for something better.
