Engine Code 14 (IAC Fault)
Hello Everyone. I have a 99 Civic LX with the 1.6 SOHC Engine. The only code I get is code 14 which states the IAC System Fault. Any ideas please help. I did the valve test from the haynes manual and it did what it was supposed to do. Thanks for your time everyone

Fault Code 14 IAC
I have a 1995 Honda Civic EX with a Fault Code 14 (Idle Air Control Valve).
I took the valve off and checked the Haynes Manuals current and voltage readings - both good.
I cleaned the valve and put it back on, but the CEL came back on immediately. I changed it with another idle air control valve and it still had the same fault code (even after pulling the fuse and disconnecting the battery for several minutes).
What would be another possible cause and the fix for this fault code??

Still trying to find out what is causing the Fault Code 14.
I had a repair shop troubleshoot it to a bad ECU.
I bought one from e-Bay (used) and it still has the CEL.
Is it another bad ECU? Or is it something else?

Are you sure it's a Check engine light and not a Maint. required light?
your ecu doesnt just control emissions it controls all the sensors that do the controling. Anyways if your computer was on its way out everything would be out of whack it wouldnt run right it would be reving up and down you would be getting all the lights on the dash on. I would take it to another mechanic shop and have them inspect it,It may be an o2 sensor.Good luck.

I am sure it is the CEL. The idle does go up and down. I can still drive it by slipping the clutch when it starts bucking like a horse. I don't get any other lights except the SRS red light, but I took the bulb out and will get that repaired after I get the CEL out.

i dont know if the same applies for honda as it did for my mustang.. i had a iat code being thrown replaced the iat and checked all the wires for splits or cracks to see if it was arcing out somewhere. but ended up being a intake manifold leaking and i had to replace the whole thing.. its a intake air temp sensor and can be a combination of a few things you just have to get tested.. i could be wrong with it being a honda but figured id atleast try to help

I don't think my Civic has an intake air temp. sensor. It has an Idle Air Control Valve and that is what is indicated in a Fault Code 14, although I could still have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake and it might give me that code. Why wouldn't the t/s guide have that as a possible cause?
