Default Ignition for 93 Accord

Just got the car today and I am having a hard time getting the key to turn in the ignition. I am new to Hondas in general and the extra turn to turn off the car is wierd as well. Is there a certain technique to starting the car also? I don't know if I do anything special when it does start but it always starts. Anyone have any ideas. Also the key isn't the stock key, unfortunately.

you might check with Honda and see if your car has a recall on the ignition switch. It seems to be a problem starting. should not be hard to stick the key in and turn to start. sticking usually means switch is going bad.

How many keys did you get with your new car? It is possible that this is the trunk key. It'll work, but won't be easy. Take your VIN down to a Honda dealer and have them cut you a new one. THen take the new key to a wire wheel and "soften" it up a bit. Remember, the cylinder has 17 years of wear on it.

A main relay usually only fails when the weather is really hot. You might have a hard start every now and then, but not enough to really cause you any concern, but when an igniter or a coil fails, the car won't start at all until it cools down.
