welcome to the forum it appears to be an adaptor for the solid fit front to the adjustable rear section. exhaust pipe coming from the header is a fixed pipe. the adaptor you have in your hand allows the back portion of the exhaust to be able to be rotated to fit the back. after market have this because at the muffler shop they can weld the parts to fit. aftermarket have to make it universal to install.
