Default Question

Hey i am 90% sure that i'm about to buy a 2002 Civic EX with a little less than 92000 miles on it but my father is worried. My mother drives a honda odyssey so they told me that every honda at 100,000 miles needs the belt replaced or you will destroy the engine. Now is that true? And roughly how much would that cost to replace? Thanks!

welcome to the forum. Your dad is right, listen to the wise gentleman. The timing belt is due at 110k or so many years, ( take a look at the owners manual) cost up to 500.00 Make sure the water pump, gaskets, crank and cam seals are changed at the same time. my 02 civc dx is now at 202k and will be changing the belt soon. I changed the last one at 112k and to date no leaks of anykind.
