'07 Pilot power steering issues
I have been doing some repairs on my neices '07 Pilot including replacing the power steering pump. It still had leaks, and that is a separate issue. After the pump was replaced, I purged the air by lifting the front end and turned lock to lock 10 times, started it up and did it again. The fluid was running through the reservoir at a an amazing rate, it looked like a Kern River whirlpool. That doesn't seem normal, is the rack supposed to regulate the pressure? It ran quiet but the leaks were also letting air into the system causing surges that blew the cap off the reservoir. A professional mechanic repaired the leaks. I have never worked on a rack and pinion system before, is this normal. Advice?
That was exactly my question, is it normal for that kind of fluid velocity through the reservoir. I've worked on a lot of different vehicles and never seen that kind of fluid movement in a power steering system before, but I haven't worked on a rack and pinion system before.
Thanks.
Thanks.
