Originally I got check engine light when I replaced a gas cap. Now the car starts fine, drives a few blocks, then balks at a stop, requiring neutral & lots of gas with fingers crossed. If I drive it around the neighborhood for a short while, it seems to eventually clear & I can avoid the dying & it runs the rest of the day. I'd sure like to fix it & drive assured rather than waiting for another hiccup in traffic. Ideas?

Sorry- no idea about codes. Yes, CEL comes on at faltering. Thanks for replying- I'm taking it to my mechanic this morning!
