Default 2014 CRV Towing Capabilities

I know the 2014 CRV is rated at 1500lbs towing capacity but has anyone towed anything heavier. Im looking at a trailer weighing 1760 lbs dry so around 2000 with everything in it. I didn't know if weight distribution bars and brakes on the trailer would help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

welcome to the forum. if you intend to tow for a short distance, you will not need the weight distribution bars or brakes on the trailer. if you intend to drive this a long distance, you would be pushing your luck a bit. with weight distribution bars, trailer brakes, and trans cooler, you're still 500lbs over capacity. my experience was with a 7200lb trailer being towed by a 1/2 ton dodge truck, with weight distribution bars, trailer brakes, trans cooler, standard trans. i lost my left rear wheel when the lugs elongated the rim holes. too much weight to pull, 3/4 to 1 ton truck should have been used. not advisable to go over capacity for any long runs.
