Default Brake lights won’t go offWhat are your thoughts out there?

Good morning! I need some help! I am a retired 70-year-old woman who brought my car in to Tiger Honda Fort Lauderdale on my airbag. I brought it in, they checked it out and said that mine was not affected. Got home and when it got dark real lies the brake lights upper and lower would not Go off. I have a 2001 Honda CRV. My question is, could they have caused my problem when they checked the airbag? Now I am stuck with a car that has a dead battery at home and they are telling me to bring it in and they will check it out and if it was their fault they will not charge me but they don’t think they could have done anything that would have caused this problem. What are your thoughts out there?

welcome to the forum. i do not believe the airbag system has anything to do with the brake lights. the switch on the brake pedal shaft may be stuck "on". when you depress the brake pedal the spring loaded switch comes out to turn the light on. sometimes that switch will get stuck internally on keeping the lights on. also the Honda dealership looks up your vin nbr on a computer, after getting the vin nbr off your dash infront of the drivers window. only thing they would do is to drive your car around for pick up.

I agree with acmech52. Not likely the garage did anything to cause this issue.
And more likely that the brake switch is stuck
It is not hard to replace

There is a little button (plastic piece) the fits between the brake switch and the brake peddle. It has a tendency to break over time. Should be a cheap fix.
