Default CRV first service

Hi, I purchased a new 2026 CRV two months ago, and I already put 6500 km on it. Oil life still at 70% on the maintenance screen, but dealership recommend changing oil at 8k.

Which method should I follow!

I had them change my oil at 4000 miles due to engine break in. I had previously heard dealerships recommending that for new cars in previous years. Others may say newer oils are better these days but I did not want to take a chance on it. They were using a synthetic blend. I now have them use full synthetic. on my 2024 CR-V.

Default Facts vs Fiction (AI)

Good question that has only been asked by few million car guys.

So I too changed the factory fill at about 4k miles. I?m thinking that I should have done it at 500, then again at 2000 and then at 5000 with 5000 being my normal OCI.

It depends on what you have, where you are and how you drive.

There are reliable sources for information that you can get on-line.
Here is a highly qualified engineer?s youtube video regarding the why to your answer:

That is a good place to start and there are a few others like BITOG (Bob is the Oil Guy) however beware of AI fakes.

So you have (allegedly) a ?26 V. Different trims have different engines and they have different issues that require different strategies. It comes under the heading: If you want a better answer you must provide better information.

Your profile reads that you are in the US yet you report miles in km. Your V also has market specific differences.

Next is the Maintenance Minder. That will reliably give you MINIMUM maintenance requirements. So follow that if you are not planning on keeping your V long term.

No matter what you choose, use only top quality oil and filters.

.02? spent YMMV
