Why did the battery go dead? How do you know the charge worked? Will it crank and or start?
Info needed.

WOW a first year semester Engineer should know batteries go dead from time to time for all kinds of "Various" reasons. Most chargers show when a full charge has been given. You need to get your money back from that Engineers School YOU GOT GYPPED :-) :-) :-)

Do not know the year of your vehicle. Lacking some information to give advice.
However, ....
Should check the owner's manual for information related to replacing battery.
Hopefully you did not hook up the charger the wrong way (at any time)?
Check the voltage of the battery with meter to check if the charge took
Some chargers will bring the voltage back up to 12 volts and turn off, indicating a full charge
However, have seen bad battery drop voltage soon after being disconnected from the charger.
