Extended warranty on new 2020 Crv
Hi,
I bought 2020 Honda CR-V Ex-L model last month. I also took the Extended warranty from the dealership.
Now I am having second thoughts on the extended warranty. Is it required right now or could I have taken it after the manufactures warranty runs out?
Extended warranty is for 72 months/80,000 miles and I paid $1750. Deductible is $100.
What do you guys think?

I always thought new cars should not have problems
But taking out a warranty is good insurance against break downs if the vehicle is known to have problems later on
And, Honda vehicles should be good vehicles built to last.
So only time will tell whether it was a good deal or not
Personally, I mostly like to buy used vehicles because of the lost of value as soon as one drives off the lot
And I like to buy from people who own the car for two years or more
Not from used car dealers. Used car dealers tend to get cars from auction where the vehicles are dumped because of unsolved issues
That is just my opinion.

welcome to the forum. i purchased the extended warranty only on my work car due to driving 65 miles one way. i did not want to worry about how i was going to get the car fixed if it failed. i did this with 2 hondas, now that i am retired, i do not purchase the extended warranty because if the car is going to fail, it normally will fail within the 10k miles. both my cars never broke down ever, got 230k miles + no failure. But if you do not know about cars or how to fix them, the warranty is good to have. Honda carries good warranties.

Extended warranties are like insurance of any kind...if you need to use it you'll be glad you had it. With the fact that nearly everything these days on vehicles is electronically driven, including the transfer case, I tend to think it's a good idea to have the extended warranty. If your transfer case, or even your radio head unit goes out after your manufacturer warranty is up, you'll be spending alot more than that $1750.

I just bought a new CR-V to replace my 2013 Honda Accord and proceeded to add it to my GEICO insurance. When I received the new insurance declarations, I noticed that they added breakdown coverage (for a new car?) adding $14.40 to the 6 month premium. Apparently the insurance companies have figured out how to make extra money by tacking on coverage, only available for a new car, that will never require a payout. The coverage pays for repairs, less $250 deductible, only while the vehicle is new and under warranty. I see extended auto warranties only as something offered to make more money for the offeror.

I bought a 72 month/120,000 mile warranty from Saccucci Honda for $1145 for my daughters 2020 crv hybrid. $0 deductible per event. Check those guys out, I never buy one for my car, but for a new model even from Honda I thought might be worth it.
