We don't overfill the CRV but are getting a random occasional strong gas smell/ fume/ odor in the cabin.
Is there any known issue?
We have the FWD Touring model.

 

when you smell the gas fumes, is the prevailing winds blowing back to front or no winds and still smell. if smelling fumes with no winds, there may be raw fuel in the engine compartment, need to take the vehicle in and advise the service mgr as soon as possible. document when you smell, day time,wind direction, out side or in a garage, idle or driving. this helps the techs to locate possible leak if any.

 

No TSBs. The service dept at the local Honda thinks it could be squirrels eating the hose...I'm forced to park outdoors where I currently live...they have had a couple instances of this odor cause recently...can't get in until 1/3.
Not covered by B2B warranty.

 

wonder if Honda has a couple of squirrels working for them in the shop???? squirrels don't really like rubber fuel hoses, they do like electrical wiring and insulation, and firewall mats to make their homes with. pop your hood open and get a strong flashlight and see if you might see some evidence of squirrel or rat droppings around your fuel lines. also if any fuel is dripping on the floor/ground when you smell it.

 

I am not a mechanic. Looking at the CRV forum to see how prevalent the "oil dillution" issue is with gas getting into the oil with the turbo chaged 1.5L. One of the symptoms I read was smelling gas in the cabin. Not sure if your issue. Looking at purchasing a CRV but am concerned with that issue.

 

The odor seems to have been a one time ( maybe two time) deal...we've had the CRV for 22 months.
I took it in for an oil/filter change and tire rotation last week.
Perhaps it was a wind blow back...I don't know.
If it happens again we'll react.

GJ10 - I'm in the south and the oil dilution problem doesn't seem to be an issue in the more temperate climates.
