Help with a purchase
I have a choice between a 2000 CR-V with 186k, one owner, and is in ok shape ( I think it has the sway bar clunk), and a 2004 CR-V with 298K, about 3 previous owners, and is in good shape(or it at least seems better). I know the older model uses a timing belt vs the newer itec's chain. I like the older model for its seemingly simpler construction, but it doesn't seem to be in as good of shape. The 04 seems better, but the miles on the odometer seem huge to me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at a $400 to $1000 dollar job of changing timing belts every few years (depending upon mileage driven)
I tend to ask why any manufacturer uses timing belts.
But, just looking at the numbers, single owner, less miles
Newer vehicle, three owners and higher mileage
Single owner happy with vehicle
Three owners?? Run until something shows up and then sell???? IDK.
Would have to take a look at the rust underneath.
Rust is a big killer of used vehicles
As usual, get it inspected before buying.
