HondaTrue used warranty is a scam - WARNING
Hi all! Thought I'd post this as a warning that at least with the HondaTrue used warranty, in my case, has been a scam. Just purchased a 2016 CRV with < 100K. It came with this warranty which includes powertrain and non-powertrain coverage up to 100 days/5000 miles. Purchased the vehicle at Germain Honda of Beavercreek OH. A fews weeks later I took it too my local dealer for some new clunking sounds. Enter Hubler Honda, of Taylorsville, IN. According to the documentation, this would be covered under non-powertrain warranty work, as it appeared to be suspension related. They, however, claimed that the warranty does not include non-powertrain. I called Honda Care. They said the dealer was wrong, and that they would have to call them. Honda Care also tried to tell me that these were likely pre-existing conditions and would be denied, even if the dealer did call them. And, that if I needed anything done, perhaps the dealer 3 hours away in OH would make good on it, but it wouldn't be covered by Honda. Sound like a runaround? That's because it is. This company's reputation is slipping! I can't believe it can be associated with such scammy activity. Wow. Just wow. Honda? Really? YEP.
I’m sure there is waaaay more to this story.
Sounds like you drove 3 hrs to get “Germained”. The takeaway here is to buy locally even if it costs a bit more.
and
Have the car inspected by a trusted local shop that specializes in the brand.
Bottom line is that if you are in that huge mileage/time period and your secret clunking issue is covered then you really might need to register your complaint in writing and/or seek legal counsel.
Spraying 1/2 story woes across the internet is unlikely to affect the HondaTrue sales to un knowledgable folk.
