Default Mystery brake part

I have a 2008 CR-V, four door all wheel drive. We started hearing a squealing noise from the rear wheels when backing up. I jacked her up and pulled the rear wheels off and inspected the brake pads, and the right side looked good but on the left the pads looked kinda thin. I pulled the thin pads out and, sure enough, one was worn VERY thin and the metal sensor was scraping.

So, I got new pads and was installing them, but I just realized I don't know where this part goes.

Washer c. 1-1/4" OD, 9/16" ID

I found this guy laying on the floor after unbolting the caliper and removing the brake pads and the stainless steel springy shims/ pad guides. I am ashamed to admit that I found one of these on one side of the car, and resolved to look to see whether there was one on the other side. Then I forgot to look for it when I disassembled the second side. I went, "DUH!" when I also found an identical washer on the floor on the second side.

I thought maybe they came from the hollow center of the caliper piston, but they don't fit in there. It looks like it might go on one of the holes where the bracket bolts to the spindle or whatever you call the mounting structure. The three short prongs fit nicely in those holes, and the washer fits tight against the surface.

The puzzling thing is that I only found one of these washers on each side of the vehicle. You would think that if they were a shim between the bracket and the spindle, there'd be one on each of the two mounting holes on each side.

This part was not present in the rebuild kit, which included pads and the shims/ retainer/ guide clips.

I have a Haynes manual, but of course the photos and instructions are kind of generic for several Honda vehicles 2001-2010, so not a clue about these mystery washers.

Any of you fellow CR-V owners have any advice for me?
