Problems with 2018 CR-V?
I was really set on trading in my 2014 Oddy for a 2018 CR-V this month. But now I'm reading some horror stories about gas getting into the engine's oil and the CIB braking system stopping cars on the road when there's no other cars at all around. Am I being paranoid, or are these problems widespread? Would it matter where the car I purchase was manufactured to avoid these 2 major issues?
Because of these possible problems, I'm considering going for a FIT instead, but maybe the issues for that model are the same. Would appreciate any insight. I need to trade in my Oddy very soon.

welcome to the forum. Yes yes yes Honda is having problems with fuel in the oil on their 1.5 turbo engines, 300k+ recalled in China,. no fix at this time in North American sales. if you decide to get a Fit from an Ody, it is a small car, i have one with 288k+ miles for commute to and from work, now retired it gets driven to the market and back. We also have a HR-V it is a blown up version of the Fit, The wife enjoys this a lot, easy to get in and out, comfortable, 35mpg freeway driving. 1.6 liter 141 hp. 2016 model. lots of cargo room. back seats sit up to put in wide screen t.v. or flat out and lay down to sleep in back. so far at 20k miles it has no problems to date.

see my post about the first 3,000 miles and long trip.
Some worthwhile info in it.
The engine fix is supposed to be out before year end. All CRV's are made in the same factory.
I wouldn't worry about the engine issue at this time.

I have a 2018 EX-L purchased in February. Gets great mileage and the 1.5 turbo is peppy. Heat comes on quickly, but I have noticed that the engine takes about 5 miles to warm up to the normal operating range. Not sure about the gasoline in oil issue, thought I could smell a little bit of it last March. OK in warmer weather. Suspect that shorter trips of under 5 miles may not be a good thing unless a longer trip is taken on a regular basis. Hope the fix, when it comes, doesn't impact mileage or power.

Thanks, but the issues with the EBS, heating and the oil/gasoline have made me decide to hang on to my odyssey for another year and see what happens with the CRV problems in 2019. My Oddy needs brakes and new tires, which is why I was considering trading it in before having to take care of that.
