Question Radiator draining in 98 CR-V, not from radiator

I've had my CR-V for almost 4 years now, and it runs great, but we noticed last week the radiator was low, and chalked it up to maybe evaporation, as we couldn't recall when we last checked it for sure (probably last winter)
Anyway, my husband got to work today, no problems, and noticed the gauge going high. He checked and it was dry. He couldn't find any leaks, and is thinking maybe one of the seals on the motor is out, but doesn't know where to look. We can't find our manual, so are really lost.
Is there somewhere we can find a manual, or, if not, is this a common problem? I looked, but couldn't find anything that matched on here already
