Trans problem
I have a 2002 Honda CRV 2.4 l the transmission stays long and gear in first gear and then hits hard after that the transmission works fine I've been just letting off the gas before it shifts and letting it shift this car was bought in a couple months ago and I have no idea what kind of Maintenance it had probably none

What is the mileage on your crv?
Have you serviced tranny? How many times, or how frequent (in miles).
There Honda's tranny needs constant attention - the ATF must be drained and re-filled either every 15,000 or 30,000 miles. If yours is 4WD, the rear "gear box" should be serviced, too (different fluid - gear oil).
You should also replace a ATF filter, If there's one on 2002 models.
sometimes removing A/T solenoids and checking metal screens helps. If the screens are clogged, clean them.
Also, check ATF level!!!
