Default Valve tap type noise when I put in gear 2008 CR-V

Hi - On my 2008 CR-V, when I put it in drive or reverse, it makes a noise like a valve tap. When I take it out of gear and into neutral, the noise stops. I don't really understand why the valves would tap under load and not when idling if it is actually a valve tap noise from the valves being out of adjustment. Can these valves be adjusted like on an older style car?

Thanks!

valve adjustment on a Honda is usually 75-100 miles, if you hear valve tap noise, time to have it adjusted. I would recommend using a service manual, or review the utube for valve adjustment. older car valve adjustment on the chevy was loosen to noise, then crank down to silent running, some were adjust to snug then crank 1/4 turn. so best touse the manual or watch the u tube video.

New owner of a used CR-V, 164k miles. Mine does the same thing. I don't really believe the noise is coming from the valvetrain, since it does not occur unless the car is in gear. Maybe the transmission? The car was a quart of transmission fluid low when I bought it. I added a quart but the noise persists.
