Default Question about oil leak -pics included

Hi all! Yesterday I had new shoes put on the E and had them do an oil change while they were at it.
This morning on my way to work I noticed a good amount of oil all over my driveway. I looked underneath and the bolt to the oil pan is there.
When I looked at the oil filter from the top of the engine I see that’s there as well, but there is a hole just above it where it looks like a bolt or something should connect and there is oil everywhere.
Any ideas what goes in the hole circled? TIA

welcome to the forum. watching an engine change on an element does not show anything going into that threaded area. to look for an oil leak clean the engine down with engine solvent or brake cleaner. if you can have another person start it so you can look for the leak, or go back to where you had the oil changed and tell them to fix what they messed up. you also might check to see if the filter is on snug and not leaking.

Yeah, there are a number of places that are made for things to go into that aren’t used, likely for other model vehicles or different world markets that use the same engine.

other than the filter and drain plug, the oil pressure switch is just above that hole you’re pointing out, it’s partly on your picture, which can leak. Further up is the vtec spool assembly, valve cover gasket and timing cover also in the area of your pic.

there’s also a chance nothing is leaking, and it was a messy oil change. When you take off the oil filter, oil can spill all over the rear of the subframe and the passenger axle. If you don’t clean that up, it’ll drip down later.
