Post Changing oil, 2017 Pilot

Just finished changing the oil in my 2017 Pilot. I must first say that I love this vehicle at every facet of operation, comfort, driving, etc. what I want to know is what dumb #*& engineer designed this engine to put the oil filter above the frame? there is no way to remove the filter without getting oil all over the frame! Then I have to smell burning oil while it burns off. It's definitely easier to get to and remove the filter by taking off the front right tire. My second complaint is oil drain plug being on the side of the oil pan instead of the bottom, the oil shoots out over my drain tub!

On my CRV I use an oil extractor to suck the oil out through the dipstick tube and change the the filter every second oil change, as Honda recommends.
