Default 2002 Honda Accord

Hey guys,

I am buying a 2002 honda accord for my son from my cousin for $500. He states that it needs a distributor and that he had to put 6 distributors from Advance Auto on the car before he got a good one. Is this a fairly common problem with these cars or am I buying a piece of sh*t? Thanks for any input!!

welcome to the forum. the price is good for that 02 accord. the part he is buying from an after market is not the greatest. if he purchased the part from a dealership, they would make it good. also if you purchase the car, make sure your cousin used honda only transmission fluid. if they used an aftermarket fluid, the trans will start giving you problems. and has the timing belt, water pump, cam, and crank seals, and tensioner been replaced. depending on milage. 120k est.

That is a great price for a 2002 Honda Accord. Make sure he gets a pre purchase inspection.

Thanks guys. The car has 274K and the last timing belt was at 199K. Lots of maintenance records. It just struck me as odd that he had to go through so many distributors to get a good one. Have any of you had that happen?

I had to replace the starter on my F350 a few years ago and ,when I went to take back the old starter for core charge it failed to start at the auto parts store, they gave me another and that one quit on me two days later. needless to say I went with a Ford starter.
