Thumbs down 2006 Accord Stereo Question

I have: 2006 Special Edition Accord

On the stereo head unit there is an AUX button. I assume I can attach some sort of device like an ipod. But I cannot see or find any external audio ports. Is there a way I can tap into the back of the radio, is there an open port for the AUX function? If so what's the easiest way of getting to it?

Tired of streaming XM over FM and would like to connect Ipod too.

I'm not a car guy, so I have no clue.

Thanks.

What you are looking for is called "Music Link". Unfortunately, on the special edition Accords and Accord LX, this is a dealer installed accessory. Now if you had an EX or EX-L you would have an AUX hookup in either your center console inside, right next to your accessory outlet or inside your glovebox. There is nowhere on the back of your radio where you can plug in an I-Pod. If you want the same result without spedning more than 20 bucks, go to radio shack and buy yourself an FM modulator. You plug this into your Ipod headphone jack, turn it on and tune to one of the lower FM stations such as 88.3. You will get the same result.

Thank you for the information. Doing some reasearch it seems to be about $200 to install at dealership. Not bad in my opinion. My commute is about 1hr to 1hr 1/2 so its worth the investment.

I will give you one piece of advice if you are taking it to the dealer for install. Make sure your glove box opens and closes as it should. The harness for most models is attached to the dashboard hanger beam which runs right behind the box. The ipod plug in will be accessed by opening the glovebox (again on most models). I have seen where the harness was not up on the support beam high enough and it prevents the glovebox from closing freely.
