Default EGR problems

Hey everyone...I'm new here. Got a EGR problem. 94 accord with a 2.2 non V-tec. I bought with the check engine light on 2 codes 12 (egr system) and a 31 which i think is a generic code?

Anyway i check the egr ports today and they are clean. Found that some on disconected the egr solenoid on the drivers fender. When you plug it back in the check engine light goes off. But the car runs like crap. Will not stay running. Unless you dis conect the vacum line that runs to the egr.

So? Egr? Or the egr solenoid? lol I am stumped and am tired of looking at the check engine light. Does any of that mess with fuel mileage at all?

Thank for your help

Sean

Welcome to the forum, wish I could help you,I wouldn't think this it would change fuel mileage,If you clear codes does the light go out.

your egr valve is probably stuck open which will cause rough idle and bucking when you give it gas you need a new one they are very inexpensive from your locale parts store.
