help, my car keeps shaking
hi,
i'm just wondering if anyone knows why my car keeps shaking? i have a 97 accord lx. it mostly happens after i drive the car for about 10 minutes or so. when it starts shaking it'll do it for 5-10 minutes then stop agian.just wanna see if i can get any clues to as what's going on. i did get it checked by a mechanic and he said it's my struts. he said my back struts are shot and my front are okay so i got my back struts fixed but it still does the same thing. i think i got screwed. who knows. oh and my egr is kinda bad and it made my check engine light turn on. can a bad egr make my car shake that bad? its really rough shaking. any help or clues would be nice.
thanks,

welcome to the forum and enjoy. when was the last time the car was tuned? spark plugs, plug wires, injectors cleaned, etc.sounds like you may have a misfire, since your eng check light is now on. If you can take your car to a autozone or parts place that can get the codes for the engine light, this will also help to trouble shoot the shaking.
A bad EGR valve will can certainly cause a rough idling engine.
EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculating valve which diverts exhaust gas into your intake which helps control emissions and high temperatures but when it is stuck open or not working properly, it will caused a miss in the engine because you can't ignite exhaust gas...it's inert (not flamable).
Get your EGR valve corrected and check that the tube is not clogged either, this should fix your problem.
Let us know your results so others can benefit!!!
