2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6 2 door coupe.

I wanted to replace the power seat cover where the power seat switches are attached, because of a large scratch in the cover. I am having a problem installing the lumbar switch. There are no screws and the switch is press fitted into the cover . When I attempted to push the switch into the cover, the tabs that hold onto the switch cracked, and the switch is loose. I am buying another cover, but I do not want to crack the tabs again.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick to installing the lumbar switch?
