Default need advice or help??

hi i recently got a 97 ek vtec turbo, was running extremely well, very very fast!!, unfortuantly the head gasket went..so i took it in to get fixed, it had a 2.6mm head gasket.. for some reason the "professionals" *coughcough* reckond that replacing it with a 1mm gasket was sufficient enough, and have had the same setup in a car that they built running 300kw, but for some reason after a tune my car seems unbeleivably slow now and really doesnt seem to have much get up and go at all.. would the head gasket thickness have anything to do with how fast a car goes? or is it all up to the tunning? im really frustrated because it was really fast and after spending all this money for this work and tune have ended up with a lemon and i dont know why and the mechanics seem to just keep brushing it off.. there hasnt been anything change other than the thickness of the gasket.. please help someone??

thickness difference of the gasket of 1.6mm should not affect the power of the engine. if there is a way to check the pressure of the intake may tell you where your loss of power is, if the turbo oil is incorrect or dirty may have a loss of power. Pop off valve maybe set low. and as buckwheat states low compression can cause a loss of power. is the engine smoking more than before when engine is accelerated.
