I recently acquired a 2008 CRV and cannot set the clock. I've been advised by my local dealer Honda are having issues with the GPS system and dealers are awaiting a fix from Honda

Did you tell them you have a 2008 model? Did they tell you the GPS patch would fix your clock?

The patch is the 'fix' for the GPS. It's software.

Just wondering why a 2008 in 2022 would still have a need for a patch?
14 years and it still doesn't work?
What does the owner's manual say about setting the clock??

I have only just acquired the car (very low mileage and mint condition) I tried as per manual but when i turn the engine off it resets. I understand there is an issues with the coding of the GPS system since Jan 2022

Turn off and it resets sounds like there is no power for constant memory
Did you check all the fuses?
Can be done with a test light. Clip to ground and probe to the test points on the fuse.
If both sides of the fuse lights up then fuse should be okay
If only one side then fuse can be blown
If both sides have no light then there may not be power applied to the circuit.
Maybe a wiring issue????

Agree with avisitor in that you are losing the memory line.
